Can the practice of painting relate to a space that is not just the space of the surface or the architectural space, but the space of bodies that collectively perceive and feel the world?

U (for the Nights of The Smiling Moons) forms a dress, a membrane, a soft and flexible body that is in turn a body for many bodies. It shapes and creates a physical space encouraging us to immerse ourselves within its dimensional allure.

The work originally evolved in response to The Nights of the Smiling Moons, a series of events in spring 2023 organized by the Institute Art Gender Nature of the HGK Basel FHNW at the Fondation Beyeler, Riehen, curated by Chus Martinez. In this context, it was activated through various workshops and performative contributions by many artists, including Susi Hinz, Sophie Jung, Ingo Niermann, Raffaela Boss, Maria Sabato, Aqui Thami, Manuela Morales, Jacob Ott among others.

By the end of 2023 U (for the Nights of The Smiling Moons) was shown in the Kunsthaus Baselland as a documentation/vision, accompanied by a script pasted on the wall.
